Personally I took zoloft and it never did anything for me. I ended up having to switch to cybalta which works fine. Either pill though I would give at least 3 weeks to see if anything at all is happening. You havent given it enough time at all to get into your system the way it needs to.
I had a son who went on it and it did nothing for him either. So the doctor prescribed something else which is a little better but not much. Ask your doctor for something else to help you.
It took about three weeks for me to notice that is was working,my moods were lessened, I did not feel happy or sad just …stasis…you may need a higher dosage..contact your physician
I took it but it didn’t work well for me. It made me feel sort of emotionally flat…I didn’t feel sad or anxious but I didn’t feel happy either. I reacted like that to prozac and paxil too which are very similar.
SSRIs take about two weeks to start working, with real noticeable differences between 3-6 weeks after starting the pill. Stay with it.
I recommend going to a public place with lots of people and loud noise and asking random people this question. If you start freaking out it’s safe to say the drugs aren;t working.
I’m not exactly sure, but it does generally take a few weeks to experience any results w/most meds. Check out & look up the med for more specific info.
I have taken Zoloft for years. I think I remember it may take up to 6 weeks to give you the full benefit. I think you are on the lowest dose. You may want to discuss it with your Pharmacist or your Doctor. Good luck.
I’ve tried it…and I didn’t feel anything. If you want something to work and you want to save some money…. I recommend using a testosterone booster. Buy it at a bodybuilding store like GNC. A lot of people don’t realize it but….. testosterone enhances your ability to mentally function. It will cost you 20 to 40$ tops for a good long supply…. you can even buy it on the Internet. Not many people will back me on this….. but I am living proof that elevated testosterone levels can enhance confidants and mental clarity. It even improves sexual activity by enhancing sexual desire. Get yourself a testosterone supplement…. it goes straight into your blood stream immediately…. so the effects can happen within hours. It is absolutely safe because the body produces it naturally….. all you’ll be doing is giving your body an extra supply. Oh trust me your doctor will NOT want you to take this because doctors only want you to take pharmaceutical drugs because they make profits from it… so don’t expect your doctor to think this is a good remedy…..But I assure you it is… and it has no side effects…. but the drugs a doctor prescribes you does….
It took about 5 weeks to get working for me, however, it is a libido reducer in about 20% of users. It works best for me along with Wellbutrin, and together they have basically saved my life.
It does take 3-4 weeks … I tried it twice, and all it did was make me forgetful and distracted.
Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression, …
There is hope; I’ve been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)… worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I’ve tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.
Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.
Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.
The program that finally worked the best for me is this one:…. and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.
I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med, and a beta-blocker (it will reduce shaking and tremors enormously, but only use in extreme situations) in addition to CBT therapy.
Any questions, let me know … I can’t tell you how much this has improved my life!
There are subtypes of social anxiety; it seems that yours may be both… click on link:
